research

I am experienced in various research techniques

featured projects

I have a range of experience in UX inquiry methods (CI, heuristic analysis, interviews, usability testing, etc.) The artifacts below outline approaches to communicating recommendations, analysis and user behavior.

Harry & David

the ask:

Worked in a 2-member team to provide Oregon-based gifting retailer feedback on their e-commerce site using ux-research based personas. We conducted a heuristic analysis on mobile and desktop platforms.

the results:

Developed and delivered several recommendations to impact address management, shopping cart design, recipe gathering and other features.

Pull Lists, Word of Mouth & Guesswork: How comic readers find content they enjoy

the ask:

Worked in 4-person team to observe, interview and survey comic readers over a 10-week period to analyze experience purchasing comic books.

the results:

Delivered a report explaining behavior of casual versus dedicated comic readers. Seasoned comic readers already have systems in place to track and organize their favorite titles and series, however, to engage newcomers and casual readers, applications that specifically speak to their interests and buying habits should be developed. Our report included suggested features for a digital tool to aid in comic shopping and selection.

The Sims 3 game interface evaluation

the ask:

Used HCI white papers and other research to develop appropriate guidelines to analyze a PC-game interface.

the results:

Delivered report outlining strengths and weaknesses of the Sims 3 game. The Sims 3 is a well-designed interface incorporating strong, research driven design principles to communicate game elements to players and illustrate complex concepts during gameplay.

home food safety consumer site

the ask:

The NRAEF wanted to increase brand recognition and awareness of its training programs to mainstream consumers. Additionally, they wanted to connect consumers with products from sponsors regarding home food safety, become a leading source regarding kitchen and home food safety and improve site stickiness.

the results:

I performed a heuristic and competitive analysis to evaluate the site’s current standing in the marketplace as well as explore its user experience for visitors. I provided several recommendations to improve the site’s user experience for visitors. Each recommendation focused on best practice illustrated by the site’s competitors.
